Wakefield Council is pleased to announce the launch of the festive markets season with the Christmas Market in Wakefield, which will be held from Thursday 12th November to Saturday 14th November 2015.

This market is being held as part of The Wonder of Wakefield event, which is being organised by external partners, and will see a variety of themed events running in the city centre during the festive season and into the New Year. The Christmas Market will coincide with the switch-on events at Trinity Walk Shopping Centre on Thursday 12th November and The Ridings Shopping Centre on Saturday 14th November.

We are currently looking to attract traders selling high quality produce, Christmas themed goods, hand-made goods or unique crafts and gifts to create a vibrant and varied market.

A programme of street entertainment is being arranged and workshops are also being planned for this event.

The market will be held on the Cathedral Precinct in Wakefield city centre against the picturesque backdrop of Wakefield Cathedral.

We will be using our branded gazebos for this event and tables will be provided to trade from. Stalls cost £100 each for the three days.

Applications will also be considered from traders who prefer to use their own structures.

Traders are asked to embrace the theme of the event by dressing up and decorating their stalls in keeping with the Christmas theme to add to the ambience of the occasion. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed trader and the best dressed stall.
