NAME:
Anita Kareer
COMPANY NAME:
Asian Inspiration
HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON YOUR COMPANY NAME?
A lot of my products have an ethnic influence.
WHAT DATE DID YOU START?
April 2012
CAN YOU TELL US SOME OF THE REASONS THAT MADE YOU START:
I started the company after becoming aware of the poor trade practices experienced by artisans and producers from around the world. The handmade goods they produce require a high level of skill, expertise and time therefore believe that they should be paid a fair price for the goods.
I am also passionate about upcycling and recycling and try my best to acquire some amazing products that have been made using recycled materials.
PLEASE GIVE US A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WHAT YOU SELL, WHERE AND WHAT YOU ENJOY ABOUT IT:
I sell a range of gift and homeware products e.g. stationery, incense, tea light holders, gift boxes, etc. I sell my products on eBay, attend local craft fayres, markets and have recently launched a new website.
WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION?
I love bringing amazing products to my customers that you wouldn’t normally find on the High Street.
WHAT IS YOUR BESTSELLING ITEM(S)?
My best selling items are placemats and coasters made from recycled magazine and gift bags, made from recycled Indian newspapers.
ANY LESSONS LEARNT ALONG THE WAY THAT YOU CAN SHARE WITH US?
Never give up hope as sometimes events can be unsuccessful but you have to take the rough with the smooth.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES FOR THE FUTURE?
I would love to supply fair trade products to more and more people and opening up people’s minds to shopping with a conscience.
