On the 4th Saturday of each month Crafty Praxis holds an Art and Craft Fair in The Byram Arcade, featuring around 10 different artists, designers and independent businesses, both local and national.
No two fairs are alike and each month there is a good selection of Art, Jewellery, Textiles, Cards, Cakes, Gifts and other items for sale as part of the fair, not to mention the three floors of independent shops that permanently reside in the beautiful Victorian arcade.
Crafty Praxis Art & Craft Fairs were established in May 2013 and they have been going on each month since, increasing in popularity within the town and surrounding areas!
Elisa the organiser has been taking part in various fairs across the country since the tender age of 19 and has taken all of the knowledge and experience from being a stallholder to organising events for herself "I'm passionate about supporting local designers as well as getting new people through the doors to discover the arcade for themselves". The price has been kept low, set at just £15 over the quieter parts of the year up to £30 at peak times, entry for visitors is always free.
The Byram Arcade is a stunning 3 floor covered Victorian arcade (fairs take place on the ground floor) full of Huddersfield’s finest independent shops, businesses a restaurant and cafe and Crafty Praxis itself, which is an art and craft gallery, home to work from around 100 artists and designers.
The Byram Arcade is located on Westgate in Huddersfield town centre, it is a stone’s throw away from both the bus and train station and there is short stay on street parking on Station Street, directly behind which is ideal for loading/unloading.
There is long stay parking at many places within the town centre and you can pay as little as £1.50 for all day parking on a Saturday. The fairs run from 10-5 but the arcade itself is open to the public from 8:30 so there is ample time to set up before the beginning of the fair.
