The one-off print was created by using a discarded Tetra Pak carton as a plate to scribe the owl image by hand. You can spot the carton fold lines across the design.
This technique of applying ink to the scored surface with scrim (a course rag) and then wiping off the excess ink where it’s not required is very messy, but thoroughly enjoyable. Alas, the owl didn’t like it very much it seems.
Adding in white highlights with oil pastel helped define some of his features; while cutting the carton to shape makes this piece rather interesting.
Totally unique, this print measures approx 11x8 inch, with a black mount in a black frame to striking effect. Frame measures 16x12 inches.
