Moseley Farmers Market happens on the last Saturday of the month in the centre of Moseley Village. We have over 60 stalls selling a huge range of produce to cater for everyone’s needs; whether it be fruit and vegetables, cheeses and wine, pies and beer, or come for lunch and try succulent pulled pork or for the adventurous – Zebra! Everything available is guaranteed to be local and the produce is reared, grown or processed by the people selling: it’s a certified real Farmers’ Market.
The market has been running here since it was set up back in 2000 in an effort to invigorate the central area of Moseley.
Moseley Farmers’ Market has won the award for Best Urban Farmers’ Market at the FARMA Local Food Awards in both 2009 and again in 2012 – the only farmers’ market to have won this prestigious award twice from FARMA – the National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association. These awards are given to those who exemplify a passion for local food, a commitment to farming and the environment, a talent for retail, and the fruits of a lot of hard work.
At every market, we have 50+ stall-holders from farms to local food producers, offering a wide range of wonderful produce for you to buy. You can find out more about our fantastic farmers here and produce you can find in season here.
Moseley Farmers’ Market is a Community Interest Company (CIC) and as well as providing a wonderful community resource in the form of the farmers’ market, any surplus we make is put back into supporting local groups, causes, and charities; in fact, to date we are proud to have put over £30k into the local community in the form of gifts and support for various projects including Christmas Lights for Moseley, and the Christmas Day Together scheme.
Our traders often tell us that Moseley is their ‘favourite market’ – & we don’t think they are just trying to curry favour with us! Located in a flourishing suburb close to Birmingham city centre, & with a footfall of around 4-5000 people each month, Moseley Farmers’ Market provides ‘a taste of the country in the city’ to a very loyal customer base from Moseley, a large part of the south side of the city, and beyond.
As the organisers of the market, we like to keep things fresh, exciting, & growing & so we welcome applications to join Moseley Farmers’ Market. Traders are invited to attend on the basis of what our customers tell us they want, whether we have any room (we are very busy), if we have anything similar already, and whether you can meet our market criteria – especially about food provenance & proximity to the market.
So if you would like to become a trader at our award winning, FARMA certified market, please read carefully through our market rules, & think about whether you can meet the criteria. If you think you can – great! Just complete the online application form, or print it off & post it back to us. Applications for traders are considered on a regular basis (we are all volunteers – please be patient if you don’t hear from us immediately) & we will contact you either to invite you to attend on a trial basis, put you on our waiting list, or explain why it isn’t possible to accept your application at this time.
