Winchester Classic Street Markets - Was there ever a better venue for a street market than the bustling High Street of this, the most historic city in Hampshire?The local workforce, the residents, the destination shoppers from the surrounding towns and villages and the legion of tourists from home and abroad, make this the perfect place for all manner of street markets.
Wednesday is Taste of the South, a delicious feast of high quality local produce to tempt the palate and enhance any menu from family snacks at the kitchen table to prestige dinner parties.
Thursday is Shabby Chic and Boutique, an eclectic mix of the bijou.
Friday and Saturday the well established traditional street market with a smattering of high end delicious street food.
Come along on any of the market days, shop the stalls, stay a while for refreshments, then meander through the streets steeped in history, and maybe visit the beautiful Cathedral. You can lose yourself in the atmosphere and easily understand why this was the capital city for King Alfred.
